Chennai: Noted cine actor and villain of yesteryears M N Nambiar passed away at his Gopalpuram residence here at 1.pm on Wednesday. He was 89. He was ailing for some time and for the past one week his condition deteriorated considerably. He is survived by 2 sons and a daughter.
M.N. Nambiar (Manjeri Narayan Nambiar) is a veteran of theatre and considered a legend in cinema, has acted in Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi films.His first film was 'Bhaktha Ramadoss', shot in 1935 in Hindi and Tamil.
An ardent devotee of Ayyappan, he has had a long association with the temple, and visited the shrine more than 65 years. His favourite films remain `Aayirathil Oruvan' with MGR, `Ambikapathi' with Sivaji Ganesan, `Missiyamma' with Gemini Ganesan, `Nenjam Marappathillai' directed by Sridhar and `Thooral Ninu Pochu' with Bhagyaraj.
