Tearful Sania retires with wrist injury from singles; doubtful for doubles

    .
An inconsolable Sania Mirza left the court in tears after her singles campaign in Beijing Olympics ended in just 46 minutes with a wrist injury forcing her to retire in the first round on Monday. Sania, returned into the game after a three-month lay-off following a wrist surgery, was trailing 1-6 1-2 against Czech Iveta Benesova when she decided to concede the match. The injury also casts a cloud of doubt over her availability for tomorrow's doubles first round match. The Indian scratch pair of Sania and Sunitha Rao is scheduled in the opening round on Tuesday.
